Roaa Mohammad Farhan Mahawesh, from Jerash, has mastered the art of turning traditional Jordanian falahi embroidery into daily accessories filled with meaning and spirit. Through her project, Roaa Accessories, she creates unique handmade pieces such as embroidered keychains, hairbands, bookmarks, wall clocks, and car hangings—all carrying authentic national symbols.
Roaa’s designs are not just patterns; they are visual stories that reflect Jordan’s heritage. A keychain might take the shape of Jordan’s map embroidered with the colors of the flag and flowers, or a charm decorated with the black iris, or an olive branch symbolizing peace and deep roots. Even her wall clocks feature the columns of Jerash ruins, blending art with identity. As Roaa says: “Every piece of falahi embroidery is a story… it carries flowers, roots, and a homeland.”
Roaa relies on precise hand embroidery using colorful threads and traditional fabric pieces to create accessories that are practical yet rich in heritage value. Each piece is crafted with love and patience, designed to be a unique gift or a touch of beauty in daily life.
This project has not only given Roaa a space for creativity but has also become a source of income and stability, strengthening her bond with Jordanian heritage. She aspires to further develop her products and expand to wider markets inside and outside Jordan, spreading the beauty of falahi embroidery as part of Jordan’s authentic identity. What makes Roaa Accessories unique is that each piece is more than an accessory—it is a symbol of identity, carrying timeless heritage wherever you go.
