The Story of Hudab Shemaghs

From the city of Salt, Maha Al-Amayreh chose to carry the message of heritage with threads of patience and beauty through her project Hudab Shemaghs. What started simply by selling tasseled shemaghs to relatives and friends soon grew into a larger project that blends craftsmanship with cultural identity.

Inspiration and Support

Her first inspiration came from her mother and family, as the craft was an inherited tradition. Over time, Maha mastered the art of hemming the shemagh with its white cotton threads and fatleh yarn, adding a distinctive touch that makes each piece a reflection of Jordanian authenticity and identity. As Maha says: “Yes, first to revive our heritage, and second to increase both financial and moral income.”

Craft as a Social Bridge

Today, her project is no longer just a source of income, but also a way to integrate socially and connect with the community while preserving tradition. By introducing innovation in presentation and using modern technology to market her products, Maha has managed to turn her project into a unique interactive experience.

Ambition and Distinction

Her ambition goes beyond local borders; she aims to achieve financial independence and professional excellence, becoming an expert in her field while focusing on sustainability and social responsibility. What makes Hudab Shemaghs unique is the blend of historical authenticity with modern innovation, keeping heritage alive and renewed in every home.
