Lanka says: “Creativity always begins with either great sorrow or great joy. In my life, I went through a breaking point, and from that pain, my art was born.”
Nearly ten years ago, her journey in handicrafts began, where she found inspiration in Jordanian heritage and her inherited Hungarian roots, blending them into a unique space for innovation and artistic expression.
Her deep love for Jordanian heritage led Lanka to design pieces that combine national symbols—such as the traditional Jordanian keffiyeh and authentic Arabic kohl—with touches of Hungarian culture she grew up with. This fusion gave her creations a distinct identity: authentic yet global.
Lanka’s artistic path was not only shaped by talent but also by dedication. She first learned handicrafts from her mother-in-law, then advanced her skills under the guidance of her trainer, Brayhan Siam. Over time, she refined her techniques and developed a style that beautifully merges tradition with modernity.
Every creation by Lanka is more than a product—it is a story of heritage and love. Her collections feature authentic Arabic kohl made from ithmid stone and Zamzam water, handcrafted sheep wool soap, hand-fringed Jordanian keffiyehs, and the original Salt headscarf. She also designs decorative wooden chairs and innovative car hangers made from keffiyeh fabric. Each piece reflects a living tradition and carries a unique cultural narrative.
Sustainability lies at the heart of Lanka’s work. She relies on natural and eco-friendly materials such as sheep wool, date seeds, and olive oil. By incorporating recycling and natural resources, her products not only preserve the environment but also bring people closer to nature.
For Lanka, handicrafts are not just items to sell—they are a way to connect with people and revive values often overshadowed by technology. As she explains: “Handicrafts are part of our daily life; through them, we share our roots with others.”
Her ambition is to expand her brand, reach new markets, and make her label a symbol of cultural diversity and creative innovation.
The development of Lanka’s products is supported by Khairat Al-Dar, a digital platform launched by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship in Jordan. As a pilot initiative, it empowers home-based businesses by providing a modern marketplace that helps artisans showcase and sell their products effectively, ensuring their passion reaches a wider audience.
