The Story of Beit Al-Aseelat

Nour Banat, from Jerash, is the founder of “Bayt Al-Aseilat”, a store that blends her passion for handicrafts and natural products with the rich heritage of Jordan. What began as a simple idea inside her home soon grew into a project that embodies authenticity and creates opportunities, especially for women in her community. As Nour explains: "It all started with my mother, who instilled in me the love for this craft and patiently taught me its basics. From there, I joined courses and workshops through the Vocational Training Corporation, which helped me refine my skills professionally."

Family and Institutional Support

At first, her family—especially her parents—were her strongest supporters. Later, she received institutional backing from ministries such as Agriculture, Tourism, and Culture, which opened doors for her to expand, exhibit her work, and access training opportunities.

Products Inspired by Authenticity and Heritage

At “Bayt Al-Aseilat,” Nour produces a wide range of items: handmade pottery that reflects authenticity, olive oil with thyme that captures the taste of the land, sage and sumac used in cooking and traditional healing, and pomegranate molasses and carob syrup rich in flavor and nutritional value. Each product is inspired by Jerash, a city where history meets natural beauty, making every item more than just a product—it becomes a cultural experience.

Impact and Ambitions

This craft has had a profound impact on her daily life, turning her skills into a sustainable income and giving her pride in preserving her cultural roots. Nour’s ambition is to improve her products’ quality and design, expand production sustainably, and share her heritage with both local and regional markets. What makes her unique is that she doesn’t just sell items—she tells stories, offering visitors an interactive experience that connects them directly to Jordanian heritage.

These products were supported through Khairat Al-Dar project.
Khairat Al-Dar is a digital platform launched by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship as a pilot initiative to empower home-based businesses in Jordan, providing them with an integrated environment to market their products in a modern and effective way.
