Kufrsoum Agricultural Cooperative Association for Pomegranate Producers

The Kufrsoum Agricultural Cooperative Association for Pomegranate Producers, based in Kufrsoum in Irbid Governorate, was established in 2010 to support local farmers and preserve the rich tradition of pomegranate cultivation. The association brings together producers to collectively develop, market, and promote the high-quality pomegranates for which the valleys of Kufrsoum are renowned—known for their distinctive taste and nutritional benefits, making them both a livelihood and a source of community pride.

Identity & Products: The cooperative focuses on both the agricultural production and value-added processing of pomegranate fruit. It produces and markets a wide range of natural pomegranate products, including pomegranate juice, molasses, vinegar, jam, seed oil, pomegranate soap, pomegranate tea and coffee, and peel powder, all free of preservatives. These products reflect the heritage and agricultural identity of Jordan’s rural communities.

Support & Learning: The association has played a vital role in building farmers’ and producers’ skills through training programs, workshops, and annual participation in events like the Pomegranate and Rural Products Festival. These efforts have enhanced product quality, improved marketing strategies, and empowered women and youth within the local agricultural economy.

Impact & Ambition: The cooperative has had a significant impact on improving the economic wellbeing of farming families by creating employment opportunities and strengthening local rural development. Looking ahead, the association aims to expand its presence in local and regional markets, explore export opportunities, and continue innovating with new pomegranate-based products while supporting small rural enterprises.

The development of these products has been supported by the Khairat Al-Dar Project, a digital platform launched by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship to support and empower home-based and community producers in Jordan through modern and effective marketing solutions.
