Ikhlas Al-Nsour, from Salt, discovered her passion for handicrafts many years ago when she began experimenting with saya threads and simple fabrics. With every attempt, she realized that what she held in her hands was not just a passing experiment but a true gift worth developing. As she says: “Long ago, I started experimenting with pieces of fabric and saya threads, and I discovered then that it was a gift I had, so I began developing it.”
With the love and encouragement of those closest to her, Ikhlas decided to turn this hobby into her project Ikhlas Design (Khair Biladi Embroidery), which carries a clear imprint of authentic Jordanian heritage. She relied on self-learning and constant practice, polishing her talent with creativity until she was able to create unique, distinctive products.
Ikhlas specializes in handmade embroidered pillow covers and decorating mirrors with traditional fabrics. Using simple tools such as scissors, glue, saya threads, and burlap—but with great spirit and determination—she ensures every piece reflects local identity and the memory of Jordanian homes.
Her project is not just home-based production, but a message to preserve heritage and bring it into modern homes in a practical and elegant way. Ikhlas aspires to expand her project to reach a wider audience, emphasizing that her distinction lies in her attention to fine details and her commitment to making every piece unique, carrying its own story.
