In the city of Salt, Hamza Raed Mohammad Al-Hourani continues his passion for crafting pottery and ceramic products through his family project Saltus, which he runs together with his father, mother, and brother in a single shop. Hamza learned this craft from his parents, who passed down to him their love for clay and pottery, allowing this passion to grow into a source of pride and accomplishment for the entire family.
Hamza says: “Our project is not just a store, but a family story we tell through every piece we create.” The family crafts their products using natural clay, ceramic colors, and glass materials, offering unique designs that blend authenticity with modernity. Each piece is carefully shaped, carrying the family’s touch and details inspired by a rich heritage and a contemporary vision.
For Hamza, this craft has not only given him a means of artistic expression but has also changed his outlook on life. It taught him how to turn ideas into tangible designs and how to interact with people with professionalism and humanity. Pottery, for him, has become more than just a craft—it is a way of life.
Hamza dreams of opening a specialized training center to share his expertise with new generations and preserve this craft from disappearing. What distinguishes Saltus is the blend of deep-rooted family heritage with contemporary innovation, where their products are adorned with the spirit of the past yet presented in a modern style that matches today’s tastes.
These products were supported through Khairat Al-Dar project.
Khairat Al-Dar is a digital platform launched by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship as a pilot initiative to empower home-based businesses in Jordan, providing them with an integrated environment to market their products in a modern and effective way.
